Family Activities– There are two toddler friendly playgrounds on the mountain. One by the lodge (at the Tree House building) and one by the owner pool off of Timber Camp Dr.
– The Wintergreen Nature Center is across from the Spa on Wintergreen Dr. They have a kids area upstairs that is free with nature themed games, play animals, books, etc. Donations are appreciated. You can find trail maps for all the local trails that the resort has to offer. Several have very nice views and/or waterfalls.
– The resort has an area called the Discovery Ridge Adventure Center where they have a bungee trampoline, mini-golf, inflatables as well as summer tubing. There is a cost associated with all of these, but very fun. There is also lots of stuff for older kids and adults (zip line, segway tours).
– We like to take the kids berry picking in the spring and early summer. Chile’s Peach Orchard is one of our favorite spots as they have homemade strawberry ice cream in the spring and peach in the summer.
– The Farmers Market is in Nellysford (by Stoney Creek) every Saturday from 8am to noon from May to October. This is free and kids love it. Not only local produce, meats and cheeses, but flowers, crafts, baked goods, etc and live music.
– In the summer you can spend the day at Sherando Lake, which is a beautiful spot only 15 min or so from the resort.
